Payday loans

Jan planned the best birthday week for me in Palm Springs.  We stayed at The Ingleside Inn, which is Old Palm Springs to the max.  We arrived in time for the Sunday Jam Session in the bar at Melvyn’s, the on-premise restaurant at The Ingleside. It was wonderful to sit back, listen to great music and sip on a perfect ice cold martini.

Another day, my very good friend Karen Travaglino took me to lunch at Le Vallauris, a beautiful French Restaurant tucked up close to the mountains near the Palm Springs Art Museum.  We spent the afternoon sipping wine, eating lobster ravioli and laughing under the fichus trees on the outdoor patio.  Willy, our very charming Belgian waiter, never made us feel rushed, even though we were the very last people to leave. Below is a photo of Karen and I!

On Thursday night during the Palm Springs Street Festival, we walked downtown and had a great time checking out the various vendors.  I can always find a new treasure there.   When we were finished shopping, we stopped at one of our favorite places, Pomme Frite.  We were greeted with a hearty bonsoir from the owner, Jean-Claude, and were seated at a street side table so we could sit back, enjoy people watching, and listen to the romantic strolling musician.  Jean-Claude has an extensive Belgian beer list, so I was able to have my much loved Chimay White Label with dinner.  Jan and I both love their Salad Lyonnais made with baby frisee lettuce tossed in a perfectly balanced warm bacon vinaigrette, and topped with a poached egg and crisp prosciutto.  I followed that with a steamer pot of black mussels and Jan had their rich French onion soup.  Ahhh, satisfaction.

The highlight of the week was the party Jan threw for me at Sammy G’s. I am crazy about our friends in Palm Springs and almost all of them came.  (Teddi and David- we did miss you!).  Julian, at Sammy G’s, did a great job with the planning of the party and Chef Sal Zavala prepared us a delicious meal.  Jan had them serve the food family style so everyone could share in all the wonderful dishes.  It was perfect because I love sharing food and want to taste everything.  We went from  an antipasto course through salad, pasta primavera, marinated sliced steak, Parmesan prawns, sea bass and topped it all of with tiramisu.  It was a lot of food, but we paced slowly with lots of wine and conversation in between. See below for a full slideshow of pictures from the party!

It was another fantastic trip to the desert. Thank you, Jan.
