Hi friends! Colette here. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season.
Last week, I went to my cousin Rachel’s bridal shower. She attends college in Mainz, Germany, where she met her fiance, Stefan. At the bridal shower, Rachel’s friends and family shared marriage advice and warm memories with her…but this particular poem struck a cord with me.
Rachel’s family friend, Kathy, made her a special jar of her homemade mustard, along with this cute little poem, comparing mustard and marriage. Of course, me being the “mustnerd” that I am (FYI- that’s my nickname for “mustard nerd”) I immediately thought must share on our blog! but I made sure to ask them both first.
So here it is! I think it’s a great comparison…plus she’s got some good ideas for new mustard flavors
Mustard and Marriage
Marriage is like mustard … colorful, spicy, versatile. It is truly the spice of life.
Ballpark Mustard so sunny and bright will put smiles on your faces and fun into your lives. Not to mention how good it will taste on
German Pretzels.
Hot and Tangy Mustard sweetly adds warmth to your relationship over the years. How much mustard powder you add determines how hot it will be.
Spicy Chipotle Mustard will bring you to your senses and into each others arms after a disagreement or time spent apart.
Seeded Agave Mustard adds flavor you will savor as children sweetly enrich your lives.
Rosemary Thyme Mustard will remind you of days of future past. A warm reflection of what was and will be.
Cognac Mustard changes flavor with every passing year — as will your marriage with Stefan. Younger Cognac presents a fruity nuance while middle-age Cognac brings a floral bouquet. Older Cognac releases nutty flavors of nutmeg, cinnamon, coffee, ginger, coconut, toffee and more.
Marriage, as with mustard, gets better the longer it is marinates. Stir gently, fold lightly with a dream and serve generously with love.
